Daydreaming and Night Walker completed!

I've gotten so bad at updating my blog! I'm a week behind again! What's worse is that I have all process shots saved on my camera, and I haven't posted any. Blugh. Maybe I'll get to them eventually? Anyway, above is my piece Daydreaming. The reference pose for the little girl can be found here: http://tracie76stock.deviantart.com/

This is something new which I'll be posting on DeviantART within the next couple hours titled Night Walker. A little unoriginal, but I couldn't think of anything spectacular. Willow trees are my favorite trees, so I thought it was about time I draw one. I really enjoyed working on her dress and the landscape in general. Feeding Time Completed

I just realized this morning that I never got around to posting this on here. I have been taking process photos of all my recent works; however, I haven't gotten the chance to post them on here. I will eventually...hopefully anyway. I just finished a new piece as well, so I'll have that posted tomorrow. It's a children's illustration, so back to my more regular stuff. This piece, Feeding Time, was something a little different from me. Still trying to decide what I think of it.
Also new picture of me which I'm posting on all my art pages. Thought it was about time since my other picture looked too blurry.

A Hope for Rain Completed

I finished this earlier this week, but never got around to posting it.
I live in northern Florida, and throughout the month of June, wild fires seemed endless. I would wake up in the morning and step outside my front door, only to be greeted by the nauseating odor of smoke. I would go to work, and the inside of the building would be hazy from the fires. I'd drive by miles of burned down trees or trees in the process of burning. It seemed like the fires would never cease - especially since there was no rain in sight. Heat lightening reined supreme as it continued to cause more burning.
That is, until two weeks ago when I was inspired to create this piece. We finally saw rain again. And not just a shower lasting five minutes. This was a thunderstorm.
I'd never been so happy for a power outage in my life.

This was also featured on Prismacolor's Facebook page. I pretty much fainted when I saw it show up on my wall.

And for those of you who are interested, I recently updated my professional portfolio page.

Two New Pieces Completed!

I tried posting these on here a few days ago; however, blogspot was giving me some technical difficulties...So here we go again!

A Rooster in the Sun
A painted this as a gift for my mother as a belated Mother's Day present and early birthday present. She absolutely adores roosters. Our entire kitchen is decorated with them!
I haven't painted since November, so this was quite relaxing. I'll definitely be painting/drawing more birds in the near future. Most likely my next piece!

This is kind of a quickie piece I did for my watchers on my deviantART. To be honest, I missed receiving a few hundred favorites on a piece in a 24 hour period. This one almost hit 400 favorites in a 24 hour period. I know it's a fan art (Rapunzel from Tangled) and that's why it received all those favorites. Back to original pieces from here on out!

Bird Watching Complete

A happy accident.

Pose reference for the girl found here.

Process Photos: Bird Watching

This piece was an accident.

I originally had an entirely different composition planned after drawing some quick thumbnail sketches. The sketch wasn't coming out like I planned, so I ended up sort of doodling dead trees...then I added a few birds here and there.

This ended up being a very happy accident.
The only thing that stayed the same from my original idea was the color scheme.

I really wanted to ink this in black since it had been so long since I did a piece in that way. I really love how the line art turned out.

Started coloring her skin first as always.

And then her hair...

Messy bottom layer of the dress. My markers are really dying. I need to buy some new ones really bad!

Working on the dress...

Dress and figure completed!

Started coloring the grass. I wanted to keep a complimentary color scheme throughout the piece so that she would really pop in her blue dress.

More grass!

Started coloring in the sky. Didn't really know what I was doing.

More sky finished and a tree!

Grove of the Fern Faerie Complete

I really loved working on this piece. I feel like I really pushed myself in reference to the composition, the texture, and the color. I'm very pleased with this piece.
